LOCK HAVEN CLASSIC TOURNAMENT CENTRAL
EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Old Dominion wrestling team is set to compete in two separate events over the holiday break this week, as several Monarchs will be in action at the prestigious 54th Ken Kraft Midlands at Northwestern on Dec. 29-30 while the rest will take part in the Lock Haven Classic on Dec. 29.
ODU heads into the Midlands and the Lock Haven Classic coming off a 25-13 loss to No. 10 NC State last Tuesday. The Monarchs picked up wins from Michael Hayes, Seldon Wright, Jack Dechow and Kevin Beazley.
The 54th Ken Kraft Midlands Championships is set to take place Dec. 29-30 at Welsh-Ryan Arena on the campus of Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois. Competing in the event from ODU will be Alex Madrigal, Kevin Budock (unattached), Emilio Saavedra, Seldon Wright, Abner Romero (unattached), Jack Dechow and Kevin Beazley.
Saavedra will look to defend his title from last season, as the redshirt sophomore captured the 133 lb. crown at the 53rd Midlands Championship last December. The field for the 2016 Midlands is loaded with top 25 tournament teams including: No. 2 Iowa, No. 7 Nebraska, No. 10 Illinois, No. 11 Wisconsin, No. 14 Arizona State, No. 17 Princeton, No. 18 South Dakota State, No. 19 North Dakota State, No. 21 Iowa State, No. 23 NC State, No. 24 Oklahoma and No. 25 Central Michigan.
