IRVING, Texas -- Following a 28-point, 17-rebound performance in the win over Hampton, Jennie Simms has been named the Conference USA Player of the Week for the third time this season, the conference office announced on Monday.
The senior guard scored 22 of her 28 points in the second half, including a three-pointer with 40 seconds remaining to propel the Lady Monarchs to the 61-58 victory. Simms' 17 rebounds were a career high and the most by a Lady Monarch this season. The Accokeek, Maryland, native also added two assists, while committing just one turnover.

Simms and the Lady Monarchs return to action tomorrow against No. 21/18 Syracuse at 3:15 p.m. in Winter Park, Florida, in the opening game of the Florida Sunshine Classic. The Lady Monarchs then play Dayton on Wednesday at 1 p.m.
