IRVING, TEXAS – Twelve athletes from across Conference USA men’s soccer were named to the 2016 InTouch Credit Union C-USA Men’s Soccer All-Academic Team as announced by the conference office Wednesday morning. Old Dominion’s Niko Klosterhalfen represents the Monarchs on the list.
A day after receiving a place on the third-team all-conference, Klosterhalfen picks up another accolade to add to his resume. The sophomore from Koenigswinter, Germany, earned a place on the 2016 C-USA all-academic team as voted on by the Sport Information directors from the nine affiliated schools.
Klosterhalfen sits in the top-two in team GPA with a 3.87 mark as he pursues a psychology degree. He started the season off with a bang recording two goals in the season opening 3-1 win against UNLV. He was rewarded for his athleticism by earning the seasons first C-USA Offensive Player of the Week award (8/29).
The reigning 2015 C-USA Freshman of the Year is second on the team in points with seven from his three goals (T-1st) and an assist on the season. Of the 30 shots he has taken this season 15 have come on frame for a .500 shot on goal percentage.
