NORFOLK, Va. -- Four different Lady Monarchs scored in double figures to lead Old Dominion over North Carolina Central, 83-52, on Sunday afternoon at the Ted Constant Center.

"I thought we played with incredible energy today," said head coach Karen Barefoot. "We really got after it. So many players really stepped up. Not just the starters, but our bench as well. That's how we want to play."

Old Dominion (2-2) opened the game with a 14-0 run to secure the early lead and then used a 12-0 rally to begin the second half to establish a 20-point cushion that they would not relinquish for the remainder of the contest.

The Lady Monarchs led 18-7 after the first quarter and carried a 36-21 lead into halftime, before outscoring the Lady Eagles, 21-9, in the third to pull away.

Defensively, ODU held NC Central (1-4) to just 29.4 percent shooting and also forced 22 Lady Eagle turnovers. The Lady Monarchs shot 51.6 percent as a team and held a 52-4 advantage in points in the paint.

Jennie Simms and Destinee Young each tallied a team-high 17 points. Simms and Young, who combined for 21 rebounds, also finished with a double-double. Gianna Smith contributed 15 points off the bench and freshman Manaya Jones notched her second consecutive double-figure scoring game with 11 points.

Rhaven Kemp led ODU with a career-high six assists, as the team finished with a season-high 22 assists. The Lady Monarchs also outrebounded NC Central, 40-34.
