Former ODU Great Kelli James to be Inducted into USA Field Hockey Hall of Fame

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Two-time All-American and Olympian Kelli James ('92) will be inducted into the USA Field Hockey Hall of Fame as a part of the Class of 2016, as was announced by USA Field Hockey last week. The 2016 USA Field Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Dinner, presented by Hershey, will take place at the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside Hotel in Norfolk on Saturday, Nov. 19 beginning at 5:30 p.m. during the 2016 NCAA Championships. 

A member of the Old Dominion field hockey program from 1988-92, James helped lead ODU to three national championships in 1988, 1990 and 1992. During her senior campaign, she led the nation in scoring with 131 points and 59 assists en route to capturing the Honda Award, given to the nation's top player in field hockey. 

For her collegiate career, James finished with 65 goals, 66 assists and 198 points. Her 66 career assists ties for eighth all-time in the NCAA record book. 

The two-time All-American and two-time NCAA All-Tournament selection went on to excel in international competition, representing the USA at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta as well as the 1994 and 1998 World Cups and the 1995 and 1999 Pan American Games. 

A native of Medford, New Jersey, James graduated from Old Dominion with a degree in marketing education in 1992 and has a master's degree in corporate training. She currently lives in Florida where she has her own business.

James is a member of the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame and was inducted into the Old Dominion Sports Hall of Fame in 2003.
