IRIVING, Texas – Krista Moisio and Jackie Stroud of the ODU women’s soccer team earned weekly honors, as announced by the Conference USA office on Monday afternoon. Moisio was named Goalkeeper of the Week, while Stroud garnered Defensive Player of the Week honors after helping lead Old Dominion to two road shutout victories and a spot in the 2016 C-USA Tournament in a matter of 65 hours this past weekend.

Stroud, Moisio and the Lady Monarchs had two must-win games in C-USA play last week, first at a hostile environment in Bowling Green, Ky. for WKU’s Senior Night on Friday. Old Dominion would spoil Western Kentucky’s Senior Night, while stunning the Hilltoppers, who entered the week in a tie for first with a 1-0 win and clean-sheet.

On Sunday afternoon in Miami, Fla., Stroud, Moisio and the ODU defense did it again, blanking FIU in the regular season finale to punch its ticket to the Conference USA Tournament in Charlotte this week. Both Stroud and Moisio played all 180 minutes of the two matches. In fact, Moisio has played all 1,634 minutes in goal for the Lady Monarchs this season, making 54 saves and compiling an 1.49 goals against average.

Old Dominion played a total of 10 C-USA games this season and five resulted in ODU pitching a shutout. Last week marked ODU’s only two road wins of the season. The Lady Monarchs have a total of eight matches this season of allowing one goal or less.

Stroud has scored two goals this season for Old Dominion, which is good for fourth on the team with four points as a defender.

This is the first career weekly award for Stroud and Moisio.

The two wins gave the Lady Monarchs 15 points in league play, earning a No. 8 seed in the Conference USA Tournament, which means they will take on No. 1 seeded North Texas on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 11:00 a.m. EST in Charlotte, N.C. Two weeks ago, Old Dominion traveled to Denton, Texas and fell to NT by a 2-1 score.
