Sailing Places Sixth at Danmark Trophy

NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Old Dominion sailing team notched a sixth-place finish out of 20 teams at the Danmark Trophy this weekend. ODU also grabbed sixth at the Intrepid Trophy in Annapolis, Maryland. 

Hosted by the Coast Guard, the Monarchs achieved a sixth-place result at the Danmark Trophy, finishing behind only Yale, the Coast Guard Academy, Roger Williams, Boston College and Navy. 

Competing in Division A, Jeremy Herrin and Carter Little placed ninth, as the duo earned top-10 finishes in 10 of the 15 contested races. 

In Division B, Jack Elkin, Dreugh Phillips and Gabriel Smith also took sixth. The trio combined for 10 top-10 finishes, and Jack Elkin and Gabriel Smith earned first place in two races. 

At the Intrepid Trophy hosted by Navy, ODU's Alec Chicoine, Elle Wells, Brendon Wilkins and Kyle Mergenthaler sailed to a sixth-place finish. 

The Monarch sailors are back in action this weekend at the David Lee Arnoff Trophy in Geneva, New York and at the Van Duyne/MAISA Men's Singles in Annapolis, Maryland.
