BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Old Dominion University Football gave up 52 first half points at WKU as the Monarchs fell 59-24 in Bowling Green Saturday night.
WKU scored the first 35 points before ODU got on the board with a Travis Fulgham touchdown in the second quarter.
The Monarchs drove 77-yards on nine plays to open the second half as Jeremy Cox scored on an eight-yard run. Aaron Young followed with an interception at ODU turned into a Brad Davis field goal to make the score 52-24 midway through the third quarter.
WKU received the opening kickoff and drove 85 yards in three plays as Anthony Wales rushed for a 44-yard touchdown to put the Hilltoppers up 7-0.
The Hilltoppers pushed the lead to 14-0 on an 11 play, 82 yard drive as Mike White hit Taywan Taylor for a six-yard touchdown pass.
WKU added a touchdown late in the first quarter on a three-yard run from Quinton Baker that capped a 33-yard drive.
WKU scored early in the second quarter, following a 44-yard punt return, White connected with Taylor for a 14-yard touchdown pass to make the score 28-0.
Taylor scored his third touchdown of the first half from White with a 54-yard reception to make the score 35-0.
Travis Fulgham got ODU on the board with a 53-yard touchdown reception from David Washington midway through the second quarter to make the score 35-7.
Anthony Wales added his second touchdown of the first half, a three-yard run, to put WKU on top 42-7 and a Nicholas Norris touchdown made the lead 49-7.
Washington tossed another 53-yard touchdown pass, this time to Zach Pascal, to make the score 42-14. WKU added a field goal to make the halftime score 52-14.
Notes: Redshirt freshman Tony Barnett start at left guard, his first career start … Redshirt freshman Devin Hannan started at right tackle. It is the third different position on the offensive line Hannan has started at this season (LT, LG, RT) … With a 20-yard second quarter catch, Zach Pascal moved into second place on the ODU career receiving yards list, passing Nick Mayers … Travis Fulgham has scored a touchdown in three-straight games … Jeremy Cox scored his eighth touchdown in the last four games … Sean Carter registered a career-high 11 tackles.
