GREENVILLE, N.C. -- The Old Dominion women's golf team finished in seventh place out of 16 teams at the Greenville Regional Preview on Tuesday at Brook Valley Country Club.
The Lady Monarchs (+67) finished just five strokes behind 10th-ranked Illinois (+62), while placing ahead of in-state foe Virginia Tech (+80), as well as Oregon (+72) and Denver (+77), who both entered the tournament ranked in the top 40. ODU was ranked 44th in the latest GolfStat poll.
TCU (+31) won the team title, while Connie Jaffrey (+3) of Kansas State captured the individual crown.
Individually, Katerina Vlasinova (+11) finished just outside of the top 10, placing 11th. Maggie Simmermacher (+20) also placed in the top half of the 92-player field, tying for 39th. Charlotte De Corte (+25, T61), Sana Tufail (+27, T67) and Rachel Walker (+29, T75) rounded out the Lady Monarch lineup.
Old Dominion is back in action next weekend at the Maryb B. Kauth Invitational, hosted by UTSA, in San Antonio, Texas, Oct. 23-25.
