No. 19 ODU Defeated by Quinnipiac, 3-2 OT

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Savanna Reilly scored a goal in the waning seconds of the first overtime period to help Quinnipiac defeat the 19th-ranked Old Dominion field hockey team, 3-2 OT, Friday afternoon at Yale's Johnson Field. Quinnipiac improved to 4-10, 3-2 (BIG EAST), while the Lady Monarchs dropped to 6-7, 2-3 (BIG EAST).

ODU got on the board first in the 21st minute when Amie Olton scored her first goal of the season, collecting a loose ball from five yards out and shooting it past the Bobcat goalkeeper. The Lady Monarchs carried the 1-0 lead as well as a 10-2 shot advantage into the locker rooms at the half. Old Dominion attempted six penalty corners in the first half, while Quinnipiac had none. 

The Bobcats' Dayna Barlow tied the game at 1-1 in the opening minutes of the second half, but Lady Monarch senior Casey Dolan reclaimed the lead for ODU just moments later after scoring her fifth goal of the season. 

In the 51st minute, Quinnipiac's Michelle Federico capitalized on a turnover for an unassisted goal to once again tie the game. Regulation ended in a 2-2 deadlock, with ODU leading the shot count, 15-9, while maintaining an 8-1 advantage in penalty corners. 

After a back-and-forth 14 minutes of overtime, Savanna Reilly made the most of a pass from Ines Ruiz Martinez, scoring the game-winner with just 26 seconds left in the period to give Quinnipiac the conference victory. 

For the game, ODU led the shot count, 18-12, and maintained an 8-3 advantage in penalty corners. 

Lady Monarch goalkeeper Kealsie Robles made seven saves in the cage for ODU.
