Old Dominion faced a tough non-conference schedule, which included: No. 4 UVA, undefeated Wake Forest, VCU, ECU, William & Mary, George Mason and Richmond.

“When we play good teams, we play quicker and we get tougher,” said ODU head coach Angie Hind. “So now, going into conference play, I have absolute confidence that we will wreak the rewards, because we will be on the front foot, we will be a step ahead and we will expect good things to happen.”

Madison Hogan leads the Lady Monarchs in points so far with six, while Iris Achterhof follows with five. Freshman Alex Davidson has two goals on the year while Kathryn Hill has scored a goal and dished out an assist.

Last season, ODU handed Charlotte a 2-1 overtime loss in Norfolk.

The 49ers enter Sunday’s contest with a 4-4 overall record, with wins against Western Carolina (5-1), Georgia State (4-1), Mercer (2-1) and Elon (2-1, OT). Charlotte’s losses came from No. 9 North Carolina (0-3), Georgia Southern (3-4, OT), No. 22 South Carolina (0-3) and East Carolina (2-3).
