NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University women’s soccer head coach Angie Hind added Mary Morgan to her staff as a Volunteer Assistant Coach.
“I am delighted to have Mary Morgan join our staff as a Volunteer Assistant Coach,” said Hind. “She obviously has great experience playing with one of the best programs in the country and also working as part of their staff for a year and so I believe she will bring many qualities to our coaching staff. I think it’s always nice when someone who has played at a high level wants to return home to make a difference in their hometown and therefore I am extremely excited to welcome Mary as part of ODU women’s soccer.”
Morgan returns to Norfolk after playing for Virginia for four seasons as a forward, in which Morgan and the Cavaliers appeared in four NCAA Tournaments, including two national semifinals appearances.
After her playing days, Morgan remained at her alma mater as the Director of Operations for the UVA women’s soccer team. She also coached SOCA, a local club team while in Charlottesville.
Prior to her time in Charlottesville, Morgan attended Maury High School, where she named to the All-State Second Team. In high school, Morgan had 187 career goals and led the region in scoring all four years.
Old Dominion will be back in action on Thursday, Sept. 1 against William & Mary at 7:00 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex. The Lady Soccer Monarchs will remain at home for a Sunday, Sept. 4 showdown against ECU at 6:00 p.m. Sundays are now “Dog Days” at all home matches this year for ODU women’s soccer.
