ODU Sports is continuing a series of questions and answers with student-athletes at Old Dominion University. This week’s edition features senior guard Jordan Baker from Hampton, Va., where he attended Hampton High School. Baker is a communications major.

Get to Know Jordan Baker:

Q: Why did you choose ODU?
A: I am a local kid and I didn’t want to go too far away from home. It was a quick decision and I committed very early, right after my visit and have been onboard ever since. The coaches and the players just had that great family feel.

Q: What have you been working on the most this offseason?
A: Getting my release higher and finishing my jump shot at the top instead of having my arm extended in front of me.

Q: What do you consider your greatest strength on the hardwood?
A: My defense abilities.

Q: What do you hope to accomplish personally and as a team this season?
A: I want to make it to the NCAA tournament. I want to be the first Old Dominion basketball team to win the C-USA Championship. It is my senior year, so I just want to go out with a bang.

Q: Social media of choice?
A: Twitter, because it has everything.

Q: Favorite place on campus?
A: Other then my room, it would have to be the Webb Center, especially the dining area in front of the Pizza Hut.

Q: Favorite restaurant in Norfolk?
A: It is either Katana Japanese Steak House or this soul food spot on Tidewater Drive.

Q: Favorite food?
A: Spaghetti.

Q: Favorite dessert?
A: Chocolate cake.

Q: Who is your favorite NBA player?
A: LeBron James, he has potential to be the best basketball player ever.

Q: Which C-USA opponent do you get most excited to play?
A: I would have to say Middle Tennessee, because the games are always very competitive. We are two very similar teams, as they are also overly physical and defensive minded, just like us.

Q: Favorite artist?
A: It would have to be Lil Uzi right now, but my all-time favorite is definitely Drake.

Q: Who is the funniest guy on the team?
A: Last year it was Martin, but this year it’s definitely either B.J. or me.

Q: Favorite movie?
A: I have seen a lot of good movies lately, but overall my favorite movie is the Lion King. It’s the greatest of all-time.

Q: Do you have any hidden talents?
A: I can sleep for a very long time if given the opportunity.

Q: Who has been your biggest influence while playing basketball?
A: My father. He put the ball in my hand and I used to always go to his games when he was coaching.

Q: What toppings are on your perfect pizza?
A: Chicken, ground beef and pork.

Q: Favorite basketball memory at ODU?
A: The NIT game against Murray State my sophomore year, when Trey Freeman hit the buzzer beater to send us to the semifinals at Madison Square Garden.

Q: Dream job?
A: Other than a professional basketball player, it would have to be a basketball broadcaster for either ESPN or TNT.
