IRVING, Texas -- Senior women's rower Colleen Rennie has been honored with the Conference USA Spirit of Service Award for outstanding accomplishments both on and off the field.
The Spirit of Service Award recognizes the community service efforts of the conference’s student-athletes, based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport. The award is presented three times throughout the season, during the fall, winter and spring.
The award adds to the list of honors earned by Rennie in her senior campaign, as the Galloway, New Jersey native was also named to the All-Big 12 Team, the CRCA All-Region second team and the Big 12 All-Academic second team.
Rennie, a psychology major with a minor in sport management, served on the ODU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and also aided in the transition for freshman student-athletes at ODU.
In the community, she volunteered with the local Toys for Tots program and Fear 2 Freedom, a foundation dedicated to redeeming and restoring the lives of those wounded by sexual abuse. Additionally, she helped with the Red Cross Blood Drive and Hoops for the Cure game to help raise awareness for breast cancer.
Grace Haverly (Women's Soccer) and Aaron Bacote (Men's Basketball) were the Old Dominion winners of the award during the fall and winter, respectively.
