SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Old Dominion University sailing finished the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Gill Coed National Championship in fifth place out of 18 teams after the final day of competition in San Diego.
The Monarchs finished with a total score of 283 points, which ranked 26 points behind first-place Georgetown and eight points behind Boston College, which finished in fourth place with 275 points.
The Division B squad of Augie Dale and Kaylie Gallagher highlighted the championship for ODU, as the tandem won their division with 123 points, four points ahead of the U.S. Naval Academy in second place. Dale and Gallagher tallied three top-five finishes on the day to earn the Robert Allan Jr. trophy for posting the lowest point total in Division B.
The Monarch boat of Esteban Forrer and Gabriel Smith finished the championship in ninth place in Division A with 160 points, which ranked 41 points behind first-place Yale. The Division A boat recorded a total of three top-five finishes on the day.
