NORFOLK, Va. -- Two Old Dominion Baseball Monarchs were honored on the 2016 Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) All-State teams, as the organization announced on Thurdsday afternoon.

Senior outfielder Connor Myers and junior pitcher Sam Sinnen represented the Monarchs, as both were named to the second team.

Myers, a Second Team All-Conference USA selection, started in all 56 games and ranked second on the team with a .310 batting average and 67 hits. He led the team with 42 RBIs, 17 doubles, six home runs and a .472 slugging percentage this past season. Myers was also a threat on the base paths, as he tied for the team lead with 19 stolen bases. He highlighted the year with two home runs against Liberty, including a walk off. In the final C-USA statistical rankings, he was first in sac flies (8), fifth in stolen bases (19), sixth in doubles (17) and 10th in RBIs (42). He also posted 15 multiple hit games, 13 multiple RBI games and held the longest hitting (12) and reached base streaks (22) on the team. The standout centerfielder finished his career as the ODU record holder for games played with 224 and sits in fifth in career at bats (778) and seventh in stolen bases (64-81).

Sinnen repeated as a Second Team All-Conference USA selection after finishing the season with a 6-1 record in 13 starts and 16 appearances. He ranked third on the team with a 3.81 ERA in a team-leading 78 innings pitched. During his time on the mound, he fanned 59 batters to lead all ODU pitchers and struck out 4+ batters in 10 games, including a season-high seven against FIU in the C-USA tournament. For his efforts during the tournament, he was named to the Conference USA All-Tournament team. He highlighted the year by being named the season's first C-USA Pitcher of the Week after throwing five shutout innings against No. 10 NC State. Sinnen was also a standout in the classroom, as he was named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll for the third straight year.
