Sailing in Sixth After Day One of Gill Coed National Championship

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Old Dominion University Sailing sits in sixth place out of 18 teams after the first day of the Gill Coed National Championship held in San Diego.

The Monarchs are in sixth place with a total score of 158 points, which ranks 29 points behind first-place Yale and just three points behind the Coast Guard Academy and USF, who are tied for fourth with 155 points.

The Monarch boat of Esteban Forrer and Gabriel Smith currently sits in 10th place in Division A with 91 points, which ranks 30 points behind first-place Yale. The Division A boat recorded a total of three top-five finishes on the day. 

The Division B squad of Augie Dale and Kaylie Gallagher is one spot of the lead in its division with 67 points, just six points behind leader Georgetown. Dale and Gallagher tallied five top-five finishes on the day, including three victories.
