NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University Head Football Coach Bobby Wilder has hired James Haeseker as the assistant director of recruiting, Wilder announced on Thursday.

"We are excited to welcome Jay to the Old Dominion Football Family," said Wilder. "He has tremendous recruiting experience having worked at North Carolina, South Carolina and most recently at Wake Forest. To compete for championships in C-USA, we will need to improve our recruiting efforts and continue to grow our recruiting department. Jay has all of the intangibles we were looking for in our Assistant Recruiting Coordinator position."

Haeseker comes to ODU after spending the last two years on the staff at Wake Forest. He worked on the football operations side, handling travel, weekly planning and implementing recruiting plans. He also executed and planned all football on campus recruiting events and led a student staff of 20 employees.

He joined Wake Forest after spending a year at South Carolina, helping with recruiting and the running backs.

Prior to that, he spent a year at North Carolina, working as a recruiting specialist and football operations intern.

Haeseker takes the place of Tim Kovacs, who is now the director of football operations.
