Gallagher, Tutchton Named to A-Sun All-Academic Team

MERCER, Ga. -- Redshirt senior Morgan Gallagher and sophomore Cydney Tutchton were both named to the Atlantic Sun Women's Lacrosse All-Academic Team, the league announced on Tuesday.

Gallagher, an interdisciplinary studies major focusing in teacher prep, lands on the A-Sun All-Academic Team for the second consecutive season. The West Chester, Pennsylvania, native has maintained a 3.60 GPA and will graduate in December with her Master's. She has also spent the past semester student-teaching at Sewell's Point Elementary. The senior captain has started all 17 games at defense this year and ranks fourth in the conference with 25 caused turnovers. She has also added 28 ground balls and 12 draw controls.

Tutchton, a pre-veterinary biology major, is one of just two members of the All-Academic Team to have a perfect 4.00 GPA. The Marietta, Georgia, native ranks fifth on the team with 18 goals and has also added three assists. The midfielder has also corralled 19 draw controls and caused 11 turnovers.

ODU was one of just five teams in the conference to land multiple student-athletes on the All-Academic Team. Read the full A-Sun release here.

The Lady Monarchs head to the Atlantic Sun Championship in Kennesaw, Georgia, this week as the No. 2 seed. ODU will play the winner of No. 3 Furman and No. 6 Kennesaw State on Friday at 4 p.m. The final is slated for Sunday at 1 p.m. All games will be broadcasted on ESPN3.
