NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion is back in action at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex this weekend for the final time this season with a Conference USA series against Middle Tennessee, starting on Friday at 6 p.m.

The upcoming series with the Blue Raiders marks the annual ODU Baseball senior weekend. On Friday, the senior Baseball Monarchs will be a part of a graduation ceremony on the field and on Sunday, the senior players will take part in “Senior Day” with their families. The seniors on the team have helped lead ODU to a 122-98 overall record and a 57-54 mark in league action, two conference tournament appearances and a NCAA Regional berth in 2014. During their time as a Monarch, the team has put together a 77-41 record at the Bud and has won 10 games against nationally ranked teams, including four wins over 2015 NCAA College World Series Champions Virginia.

Old Dominion took a loss at the hands on Liberty on Wednesday afternoon, but hold a 29-19 overall record and a 12-12 mark in C-USA action. The Monarchs have struggled against the Blue Raiders in recent years, as Middle Tennessee holds a 7-2 advantage in the all-time series. This weekend marks the first time since the series began in 2000 that these two teams will meet in Norfolk. Last year, the Monarchs were swept in Murfreesboro and were outscored 20-8.

Connor Myers and Zach Rutherford are tied for the team lead with a .319 batting average, while Rutherford (61) has posted one more hit than Myers (60) in 48 games. The dynamic duo has combined for 22 doubles, three triples, six home runs and 57 RBIs on the year. As a team, ODU is hitting .258 and holds a 4.66 ERA, which is ranked 7th in the league.

Middle Tennessee enters the weekend with an 18-31 overall record and a 4-20 mark in conference play. The Blue Raiders recently completed the season sweep of Austin Peay (28-18), which had won three of four coming into the game, with a 17-3 victory at Raymond C. Hand Park. The Blue Raiders pounded out 19 hits, led by Austin Dennis who went 4-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and one run scored. Aaron Aucker and Blake Benefield combinined to go 6-for-10 in the middle of the order, as Aucker was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBI and Benefield hit pair of doubles in his 3-for-5 effort that included three RBI and two runs scored.

Riley Delgado leads the pack with a .398 batting average and 74 hits, while Brad Jarreau is hitting .299 with 58 hits and 25 RBIs. As a team, Middle Tennessee is hitting .266 and the team holds a 5.68 ERA.
