GREENVILLE, N.C. -- The ODU men's golf team got off to a strong start at the East Carolina Intercollegiate on Monday, climbing into fourth place out of 13 teams after two rounds of play. Through 36 holes, David Langley leads the Monarchs, currently sitting in fourth place out of 79 participants.
Hosting East Carolina, ranked 47th in the country, leads the team standings after day one. Florida Gulf Coast is in second place, Campbell is in third and Old Dominion sits in fourth.
Individually, ODU's David Langley is in a five-way tie for fourth after firing a two-under 70 in round one and following up in round two with a 77. Seth Sweet is just two strokes behind in 13th place, while Antonio Cruz Conde is in 25th heading into tomorrow's final round.
The Monarchs recorded the second-best par five scoring average (4.78) on day one of the tournament and were one of just three teams to sink an eagle.
Langley is tied for first with a par four scoring average of 4.05, Cruz-Conde recorded the third-best par five scoring average (4.38) and Sweet is tied for second for most pars with 24. Langley was also one of just five golfers to sink an eagle so far.
The Monarchs conclude the third and final round of the ECU Intercollegiate Tuesday morning.
