Rencis, Langley Notch Top-20 Finishes at C-USA Championships

TEXARKANA, Ark. -- The Old Dominion men's golf team wrapped up the Conference USA Championships in Texarkana, Arkanasas on Tuesday with a seventh-place finish out of 13 teams. Freshman Nick Rencis was the highest-placing Monarch, grabbing 15th place out of 65 participants after shooting a 69-79-74=222 for the tournament.

No. 38 UAB clinched the team title in stroke play while LA Tech, UTSA and North Texas advanced to the fourth day of the C-USA Championships by placing in the top four. Old Dominion finished in seventh. 

UAB's Taylor Eyster won the individual crown via a one-hole playoff over LA Tech's Victor Lange, as both golfers finished with the same score through three rounds. 

Nick Rencis placed 15th for the Monarchs, as the freshman from Long Valley, New Jersey improved by five strokes from round two to round three. David Langley placed 18th, finishing just one stroke behind teammate Rencis. Senior Seth Sweet grabbed 26th place and improved by three strokes each day, while Chad Hess took 48th and Antonio Cruz-Conde placed 54th.

Old Dominion finished the conference championship with the second-best par three scoring average (3.25) and the second-highest birdie total with 43. 

Individually, Rencis and Langley recorded the third-best par three scoring average (3.08).
