BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The No. 50 Old Dominion men’s tennis team (14-4) will finish up their eight game road trip this weekend when they head to Mobile, Alabama to face Conference-USA foe No. 74 UAB (11-7) on Saturday, April 2 at 1:00 p.m. and South Alabama (12-10) Sunday, April 3 at 11:30 a.m.
The Tennis Monarchs have won 12 of its last 13 matches.
ODU is led by sophomore Adam Moundir who has won six of his last singles matches at the No. 1 position, and most recently took down the No. 117 ranked singles player in the country in two sets. Sophomore Michael Weindl is also on a roll for the Tennis Monarchs right now, having won both his singles and doubles matches this past weekend.
No. 74 UAB (11-7) has taken down two ranked opponents this season, earning their first national ranking since 2014. Leading the Blazers are Eric Komati, who has an 11-3 overall singles record, and Mitchell Martell who has downed four of the last five opponents he’s faced at the No. 1 position.
South Alabama (12-10) will enter Sundays against Old Dominion match having faced UAB the previous Friday, and two times in as many weeks. The Jaguars’ veteran lineup is highlighted by Senior Tim Srkala, out of the Czech Republic, who holds a 10-8 singles record on the season.
ODU faced UAB and South Alabama in the same weekend last year as well, taking down then ranked-No. 66 South Alabama 4-3, and defeated UAB 6-1.
