ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Old Dominion sailing team registered a fifth-place finish out of 19 teams at the Navy Spring Regatta over the weekend. ODU also participated in the Thompson Trophy in New London, Connecticut, where the Monarchs placed 13th.
The Monarch duo of Esteban Forrer and Gabriel Smith turned in a third-place finish in Division A of the Navy Spring, falling only to opponents from Georgetown and the College of Charleston. ODU's Joe David and Carter Little grabbed 11th place in Division B. Overall, Old Dominion placed fifth, falling behind only champion Georgetown, runner-up College of Charleston, Navy and Stanford.
At the Thompson Trophy Regatta, Augie Dale, Stephen Guglielmo and Kaylie Gallagher placed eighth in Division A, Jeremy Herrin and Dane Pedersen took 14th in Division B and Lee Dumaliang and Abby Lockler grabbed 14th to give the Monarchs a 13th-place overall finish.
Next up, on Saturday, April 23 ODU heads to the Admiral's Cup in Kings Point, New York and to the Arrigan Memorial in Alexandria, Virginia. The Monarchs will also compete on that date at the MAISA Women's in Geneva, New York.
