HUNTINGTON, W. Va. – The No. 68 nationally ranked Old Dominion women's tennis team (11-6) will play its last match of the regular season against Conference USA foe Marshall (9-10) in Huntington, W.V. on Saturday, April 16 at 11:00 a.m.
The Lady Tennis Monarchs had their five-match win-streak snapped by No. 36 William & Mary in heartbreaking fashion last weekend by a 4-3 score. ODU has faced 8 ranked opponents so far this year posting a 4-4 record.
Old Dominion has jumped out to early leads in the last three matches courtesy of the teams strong doubles play. Doubles duo Borislava Botusharova and Marijana Novakovic are 3-1 on the year.
Old Dominion women’s tennis team senior captain Nikol Hristova has won 7 of her last 8 matches. Junior Ingrid Vojcinakova is also on a roll for the Lady Tennis Monarchs having won 6 straight, and 11 for her last 12 singles matches.
Marshall (9-10) has faced 9 ranked opponents on the year and holds a 4-5 record at home this season. Junior Derya Turhan has consistently played well for The Herd at the No. 1 position, boasting a 15-4 overall singles record.
Old Dominion and Marshall split the two meetings last year (1-1). ODU swept Marshall during the regular season match last year, handing them its only 7-0 loss of the season. The Herd bounced back to defeat the Lady Tennis Monarchs in the semifinals of the Conference USA tournament last year by a 4-3 score.
