WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va. -- Old Dominion freshman Nick Rencis captured the first place trophy out of 89 participants at the Greenbrier Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday after firing a five-under 65 in the final round of the tournament. Competing as an individual, Rencis' title was the first tournament crown earned by an ODU men's golfer this season.

In the team standings, East Tennessee State claimed the championship while Eastern Kentucky and Western Kentucky rounded out the top three, respectively. Old Dominion registered a 10th-place finish, tying with Middle Tennessee State.

Competing in just his fourth collegiate event, Rencis shot a 71-71-65=207 (-3) to earn the championship. A freshman from Long Valley, New Jersey, Rencis had not placed higher than 46th at a college tournament until bursting onto the scene at Greenbrier on Tuesday. Because he competed as an individual, Rencis' score did not count toward Old Dominion's team score.

Monarch senior Seth Sweet turned in his fourth top-10 finish of the year, placing ninth. The native of Madison, Maine shot a 67-72-75=214.

Also placing for ODU, David Langley took 47th, Antonio Cruz-Conde grabbed 57th, Ashton Newsom notched a 64th-place finish and Chad Hess took 78th.

Next up, the Monarchs head to the Conference USA Championships in Texarkana, Arkansas from April 24-27.
