NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion sailing team capped off a big weekend with a third-place finish at the MAISA Team Race Championship/Capt. Prosser Trophy, qualifying the Monarchs for the 2016 ICSA Team Race National Championship this May in San Diego, California. 

Georgetown took home the first-place trophy, while St. Mary's College of Maryland, Old Dominion and the Naval Academy rounded out the top four, respectively. All four programs qualified for the National Championship. 

ODU registered wins over Cornell, George Washington, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Navy and NY Maritime in rounds one and two to finish in third place, falling behind only Georgetown and St. Mary's. 

The Monarchs were represented by skippers Esteban Forrer, Joe David and Augie Dale as well as by crews Gabriel Smith, Grace Mason, Katelyn Talley and Kaylie Gallagher

Next up, the Old Dominion sailing team will compete on Saturday, April 16 at the Thompson Trophy in New London, Connecticut and at the Navy Spring Coed in Annapolis, Maryland.
