WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, NJ -- The Old Dominion top Varsity Eight boat won the Petite Final to highlight the final day of action for the ODU women's rowing team at the Knecht Cup at Mercer Lake in West Windsor Township, New Jersey, on Sunday.

The 1V8 won the Petite Final, the second of three finals in the event, with a time of 6:47.48. The Lady Monarchs finished ahead of the top boats for Drexel, Kansas, North Carolina, Temple and Alabama.

With an earlier start time due to a weather-shortened first day, the second day of racing opened with ODU's second Varsity Eight placing fifth (7:07.13) in the third semifinal heat, earning a spot in the third final heat.

The ODU top Varsity Eight boat then had the best semifinal finish, placing fourth (6:57.94) in semi No. 2. The fourth-place finish guaranteed the 1V8 a spot in the Petite Final. 

The Novice Eight earned a fifth-place finish (7:33.43) in its semifinal heat, giving the a boat an automatic bid to the third final. The third Varsity Eight rounded out the semifinal heats for ODU, finishing sixth (7:49.81), which was not enough to qualify for the final round.

In other finals action, ODU opened with the Varsity Four placing fifth (7:56.55) in the third final. The Lady Monarchs' Novice Eight and second Varsity Eight boat then each registered a fourth-place finish in their respective finals, as the Novice 8 crossed the finish line fourth (7:33.56) in the Petite Final and the 2V8 placed fourth (7:14.16) in the Third Final.
