ODUSports.com recently sat down with redshirt sophomore linebacker, Marvin Branch. Last season, Branch totaled 30 tackles playing linebacker and special teams and recorded a career-best high 11 tackles in the win over Charlotte.
Q: Why did you pick ODU?
A: I wanted to stay close to home. When they recruited me it just felt right.
Q: What are you studying?
A: Health services & administration.
Q: You have played in every game last year, how did that feel?
A: It felt good. The game is a lot faster and the atmosphere is live.
Q: Most memorable football memory?
A: My junior year of high school, I ran back a blocked punt and had a pick six in the same game.
Q: If you could be on any NFL team to be on, who would it be?
A: Redskins.
Q: Best part of being on the ODU football team?
A: The traveling and building a bond with the team.
Q: When did you start playing football?
A: Seventh grade.
Q: If you had to pick another sport to play, what would it be?
A: Basketball.
Q: Favorite athlete?
A: LeBron James.
Q: Pregame rituals?
A: Just praying before the game.
Q: What is the most difficult part of being a linebacker?
A: I would have to say knowing the checks.
Q: Who is your role model?
A: My dad. He’s a good person and showed me how to be a man by how he handles the family.
Q: Favorite place to eat on campus?
A: Tropical Smoothie.
Q: Favorite music artist?
A: Lil Wayne.
Q: What hobbies do you have other than playing football?
A: Playing video games.
Q: One place you would like to travel to?
A: Hawaii.
Q: Goals for upcoming season?
A: I want to become a starter.
