JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Old Dominion women's golf team wrapped up the first day of the UNF Collegiate in a tie for sixth place with Chattanooga after playing 36 holes. Charlotte De Corte currently sits in a tie for fifth place out of 96 golfers after firing a two-over 74 in round one and a 72 in the second round.
Texas and Houston are tied for first in the team standings while the College of Charleston, Campbell and Eastern Kentucky round out the top five, respectively.
Individually, Laura Gomez of James Madison and No. 90 Sophia Schubert from Texas are tied for first place. De Corte is not far behind in a tie for fifth with No. 99 Megan Thothong of Houston.
ODU freshman Sana Tufail impressed on the first day of the tournament, firing a 76 in both rounds which landed her in a 26th place tie. Maggie Simmermacher is tied for 30th, Kate Vlasinova is tied for 45th and Rachel Walker is tied for 62nd.
As a team, the Lady Monarchs sunk the third-most birdies of all 17 teams with 114 through two rounds. ODU also has the fifth-best par five scoring average (5.13) after day one.
Sana Tufail is in fourth of all 96 golfers in par four scoring average (4.05), and Charlotte De Corte is tied for third for most pars with 26. Tufail and Walker have 24 pars.
The Lady Monarchs will wrap up the third and final round of the UNF Collegiate tomorrow morning.
