KENNESAW, Ga. -- Maggie Simmermacher is tied for eighth place out of 70 golfers after the first two rounds of the Henssler Financial Intercollegiate hosted by Kennesaw State at the Pinetree Country Club.
Texas Tech, ranked 26th in the nation, leads the team standings after day one, while Illinois and No. 34 Augusta are tied for second place.
As a team, the Lady Monarchs are in ninth place and sit just two strokes behind eighth-place Kennesaw State.
Leading the way for Old Dominion, Maggie Simmermacher fired a 74 in round one and a 76 in round two to climb into a five-way tie for eighth place. Freshman Sana Tufail is tied for 23rd after shooting an 80 in round one and following up with a 73 in round two.
The Lady Monarchs sunk 19 birdies on day one of the tournament, which is tied for third-most of all 12 teams.
Individually, Simmermacher and Tufail have recorded the third-lowest par five averages (4.88) through two rounds. Tufail sunk six birdies, while Simmermacher managed five.
The third and final round of the Henssler Financial Intercollegiate gets underway tomorrow morning with a 9:15 a.m. shotgun start.
