NORFOLK, Va. -- Former Old Dominion women's basketball player Chelisa Painter was recently honored by Eurobasket.com by earning All-Irish Premier League First Team laurels, as well as Player of the Year, Forward of the Year and Import Player of the Year.
The 6-1 forward led DCU Mercy to its first Irish Premier League Championship game in her rookie season with the program. Her team also made history by earning the league's regular season champion title for the first time.
She paced the team with 20.4 points, ranking third in the league, to go along with her 11.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Her rebound total also ranked fourth in the league. The standout player was efficient from the floor, as she made 52.5 percent of her shots and 67.9 percent of her free-throws.
During the regular season, she earned Eruobasket.com Player of the Week accolades three times. Painter most recently earned the honor in late February after posting a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds in a 19-point victory, which allowed DCU Mercy to sit in first place in the league heading into the playoffs.
