PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 38 Old Dominion men’s tennis team will take their 11-match win streak to Brown University (7-9) and No. 50 Harvard University (10-8), this Saturday, March 26 and Sunday, March 27. Both matches are slated to begin at 10:00 a.m.
The Tennis Monarchs last lost came at the hands of No. 50 Penn State back in January. Senior Zvonimir Podvinski has been consistently playing well for ODU with an 11-3 singles record on the season. Freshmen Aziz Kijametovic and Jacob Niccolusi also help lead the Monarchs with a combined 21-9 singles record on the season. The freshmen tandem of Kijametovic and Niccolusi also are ranked as a doubles team at No. 80.
The Tennis Monarchs will first face Brown University (7-9) on Saturday. Although the Bears have lost five of their last six matches, four of them came at the hands of ranked opponents.
On Sunday, No. 38 ODU will take on No. 50 Harvard. The last meeting between the two came in 2013 when the Monarchs took down the Crimson by a score of 4-3. Senior captain Nicky Hu, who is ranked No. 117, leads Harvard and is 5-7 on the year, having facing eight ranked singles players this season thus far.
