WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Seth Sweet finished in 11th place out of 126 golfers as the ODU Monarchs tied for seventh place with Loyola out of 24 teams at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate hosted by William & Mary.
Penn State clinched the team title and Tennessee finished as the runner-up, as both teams broke the record for best team score. TCU, Drake, Maryland and Dayton finished third through sixth, respectively, and the Monarchs finished in seventh just four strokes behind sixth-place Dayton.
The top three individual placers all broke tournament records as well, as TCU's Paul Barjon shot a 203 (-7) to claim first place while Penn State's Charles Huntzinger and Tennessee's Chad Merzbacher tied for second.
ODU senior Seth Sweet fired a 70-72-73=215 (+5), which was good for an 11th place tie with David Kocher from Maryland, Giulio Castagnara from TCU and Will Sallee from Eastern Kentucky. ODU's David Langley tied for 21st place after shooting 70-75-73=218 (+8).
David Langley finished in a second place tie for par three scoring average (2.83), while Seth Sweet tied for most pars of all 126 golfers with 42. Langley managed 35 pars.
The ODU men's golf team gets back in action on Sunday, April 3 at the East Carolina Intercollegiate in Greenville, North Carolina.
