WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- David Langley and Seth Sweet each fired a 70 in the first round of the Kingsmill Intercollegiate and are currently in a tie for eighth place out of 125 golfers. The Monarchs collectively shot a 291 and are in seventh place out of 24 participating teams.
Tennessee is out in front in the team race while Penn State and Dayton are tied for second place. Loyola and Appalachian State are tied for fourth, and IPFW is in sixth, just one stroke ahead of ODU.
Charles Huntzinger from Penn State shot a 67 and leads the tournament individually after round one. Old Dominion's David Langley and Seth Sweet are three strokes behind in a six-way tie for eighth place. Calvin Greschner is in 34th place after shooting a 73 in the first round.
Through round one, David Langley is in third for par three scoring average (2.75), and Seth Sweet is tied for second in par five scoring average (4.00). Sweet and Langley both sunk three birdies so far while Calvin Greschner recorded 13 pars.
Round two of the three-day event will commence Monday morning at 9 a.m.
