Jean Holloman Whitehurst, a 1984 inductee into the Old Dominion University Sports Hall of Fame, passed away on March 10 in Severna Park, MD.
Jean was a multi-sport star at Old Dominion College, playing basketball, golf and field hockey. She also competed on the highly successful AAU Snow White women's basketball team, along with fellow ODU Hall of Famer, the late Donna Doyle. She was the only female graduate in the 1956 ODC class. She was named ODC's Outstanding Female Athlete in 1950. Jean served on the Old Dominion Intercollegiate FOundation board and the Alumni Association board, and was an active fundraiser for the Donna Doyle Endowed Scholarship, which supports scholarship student athletes in ODU's women's sports.
