ODU Men's Golf in 3rd After Strong 1st Day at Mission Inn

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. -- The ODU men's golf team turned in an impressive first two rounds on the first day of the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida's Mission Inn Golf and Tennis Resort. The Monarchs are currently in third place of 18 teams behind only No. 18 South Florida and No. 39 Texas Tech.

Old Dominion shot a 296 in the first round and a 286 in the second round to climb into third place, just two strokes behind No. 18 South Florida and one behind No. 39 Texas Tech. ODU currently is ahead of No. 50 Lipscomb University. 

Leading the way for ODU, David Langley fired a 74 and a 68 and is tied for fifth place. The Monarchs' Seth Sweet is not far behind in a tie for 12th place after shooting a 74 in round one and a 71 in round two. Langley currently sits one spot ahead of  89th-ranked Riget Fernandes of South Florida, while Sweet is tied with 33rd-ranked Dawson Armstrong from Lipscomb University.

ODU's Thomas Henderson is tied for 17th, Calvin Greschner is tied for 33rd and Nick Rencis is tied for 42nd. 

As a team, the Monarchs have the third-lowest par three and par four average and also are in second for most birdies with 29. 

Seth Sweet is tied for the lowest par three average (2.88) of all 102 golfers in the field, and Thomas Hederson has the second-best par four average (2.85) after day one. David Langley is tied for second-best par five average (4.50) and sunk nine birdies through two rounds.
