NORFOLK, Va. - The No. 61 Old Dominion men’s tennis team (2-3) will host two matches this weekend against Penn (2-2) Saturday, Feb. 6 at 1:00 p.m. and then against No. 34 Dartmouth (5-1) on Sunday, Feb. 7 at 10:00 a.m. at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. The first 200 fans at Saturday’s match against Penn will receive a free slice of pizza!
The Tennis Monarchs are coming off a 2-1 weekend where they dominated Richmond 7-0 and Norfolk State 6-1 on Friday, Jan. 29 before dropping a hard fought three hour and 45 minute match to No. 50 Penn State, 2-5. No. 28 ranked doubles Adam Moudir/Aziz Kijametovic went 3-0 on the weekend.
Penn is entering the weekend (2-2) after most recently beating Conference USA member Middle Tenn. State by a 5-2 score. No. 1 singles Kyle Mautner is 3-1 on the season with his only defeat coming at the hands of a top 100-ranked opponent.
Dartmouth will come to ODU with an impressive 5-1 record with three of those wins off of top 75 ranked teams. Including a 4-3 win over No. 32 Tulane this past weekend in a match that came down to a three set battle on No. 3 singles in which Dartmouth was victorious. Dartmouth is lead by No. 18 nationally ranked singles Dobydas Sakinis.
