CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Old Dominion men's basketball team (12-10, 5-4 C-USA) will take on Charlotte (7-14, 4-5 C-USA) for the second time this season on Saturday Feb. 6 at 7:00 p.m. EST at the Halton Arena.
Old Dominion is currently in a two-way tie for fifth place in the Conference USA standings with a 5-4 mark. The top four seeds at the conclusion of the regular season will earn a bye in the first round of the C-USA Tournament.
Last week, marked the first time the Monarchs won consecutive road games since Feb. 26 and Feb. 28 of 2015 at Rice and North Texas.

THE FIRST MEETING THIS SEASON
On Jan. 2, ODU extended its home winning streak to 32 games with a 74-65 victory over Charlotte in the Conference USA opener the Ted Constant Center. The 32-game winning streak tied with Kansas for the fourth-longest active streak in Division I basketball.
Old Dominion was led by Trey Freeman's 21 points on 9-13 shooting from the floor. Aaron Bacote (four assists) added 18 points, Brandan Stith tallied 11 points and nine rebounds, while Denzell Taylor contributed a game-high 13 rebounds.
Overall, ODU shot 50.8 percent from the field and outrebounded Charlotte, 41-28. The Monarchs led for a total of 33:54 of the possible 40 minutes. For the contest, Old Dominion held advantages for points in the paint (50-32), points off turnovers (21-6) and bench points (29-10).
THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Old Dominion leads the all-time series against Charlotte, 18-13. The Monarchs are riding a three game win streak against the 49ers.
LAST TIME OUT FOR OLD DOMINION
In a key Conference USA match-up, it was the Old Dominion men’s basketball team who outlasted Florida International (11-11, 5-4 C-USA) by a 64-60 score on Saturday at FIU Arena. Trey Freeman scored a game-high 25 points to compliment nine rebounds. Freeman has now scored 25 or more points in six consecutive contests.
Aaron Bacote poured in 15 points, while Brandan Stith finished with 13 points on 5-6 shooting from the floor to go along with seven rebounds. ODU’s Denzell Taylor hauled down a game-high 11 rebounds (seven offensive).
Old Dominion held advantages in rebounds (43-29), second chance points (22-10) and bench points (20-7), while holding FIU to 1-11 (9.1%) shooting from three-point range. The Monarchs led for 36:37 of the possible 40 minutes.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS FOR OLD DOMINION
Trey Freeman is leading all Conference-USA scorers with 20.6 points per game, and is averaging 26.7 ppg in C-USA play. Freeman is the reigning C-USA Player of the Week for the second straight week. Aaron Bacote follows averaging in the double-figures as well, pouring in 14.2 points a contest. Brandan Stith is netting 9.1 ppg to compliment 8.6 boards per contest, while Zoran Talley is averaging 8.3 points and 5.0 rebounds. Denzell Taylor currently leads ODU with 161 total rebounds (7.3 per game).
Old Dominion is averaging 67.4 points a game, while holding opponents to a league best 61.8 points on 40.2% shooting from the floor and 31.6% from long-range.
TREY FREEMAN
For the second consecutive week, Old Dominion’s men’s basketball guard Trey Freeman (Virginia Beach, Va.) was named the Conference USA Player of the Week.
Against Florida Atlantic, Freeman recorded his 1,000th point in an ODU uniform, which only took just over a season a half worth of games to accomplish.
He is now averaging 26.7 points per game in C-USA play, which leads all players in the conference. For the season, he is averaging 20.6 points per contest, which also tops the league scoring chart and ranks among the top 20 nationally.

The 49ers are one of the youngest teams in the conference, as their three freshman are combining for an average of 40.2 points per game in C-USA play and have earned Conference USA Freshman of the Week honors for the third time in four weeks.
Charlotte is led by junior Braxton Ogbueze who averages 12.6 points per game and leads the 49ers in three-pointers made with 64, as he shoots 43.2% from deep. Senior Joseph Uchebo helps carry the load with an impressive 11.0 rebounds per game to accompany 12.6 ppg. Freshman Jon Davis nets 11.1 points per ballgame, while fellow freshman Adrien White is chipping in 10.8 ppg.
