Monarchs Top Delaware, 10-4

Norfolk, Va. - Connor Myers had three hits while Culver Lamb earned the first win of his career as Old Dominion University baseball defeated Delaware 10-4 in the final game of the ODU Baseball Tournament on Sunday evening.

Old Dominion (6-1) took control with four runs in the fifth and sixth innings.  Justin Hayes led off the fifth with a triple to right center and scored on a Myers RBI single to make the score 2-2.  Nick Walker singled and Jason McMurray drilled his first home run of the season to make the score 5-2. 

The Monarchs added a cushion to the lead with four more in the sixth inning. Nick Lustrino led off the inning with a single and stole second.  Grey Finwood was hit by a pitch, while Lustrino and Finwood moved up a base on a wild pitch.  Hayes followed with a single to score two and up the score to 7-2.  Hayes added a stolen base and scored on a Myers double.  Myers made the score 9-2 when he stole third and scored when the throw got away from the third baseman.

Delaware (3-3) added a pair of runs in the seventh inning on an Adam Rapp two-run homer.

Hayes scored the final run on a fielder's choice RBI from Zach Rutherford.

Myers added two runs and two RBI on the day while Hayes and Walker had two hits apiece.

Kevin Mohollen and Rapp each had to hits for Delaware.

Culver Lamb earned the first win of his career, pitching 3.1 innings, allowing three hits and two runs. 

ODU hosts Liberty at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1 at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex.
