NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 55 Old Dominion men’s tennis team (7-3) will look to extend its five-match win streak when the Monarchs host their last double-header the season this Friday, Feb. 26 against Bucknell (4-3) at 12:30 p.m. then Hampton (0-2) at 6:00 p.m. at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. The Tennis Monarchs will then hit the road to take on No. 25 N.C. State (10-3) on Sunday, Feb. 28 at 1:00 p.m. at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.

The top of the Monarchs lineup has performed brilliantly to start to the season, leading the team to a 7-3 overall record. At the No. 1 spot Adam Moundir is nationally ranked at No. 105 and has already been named Conference-USA Player of the Week once this season. Sophomore Michael Weindl has also been named the Conference-USA Player of Week this season as well, after going 4-1 this past weekend. At the No. 3 spot for the Tennis Monarchs, freshman Aziz Kijametovic hasn’t lost a match since opening weekend and is currently on an 8 match win streak.

Bucknell (4-3) is led by their reigning Patriot League Doubles Team of the Year in Nick Bybel and Bryan Adams. Bybel, a senior, also plays at the No. 1 in singles for the Bison. Bucknell Freshman Andrei Vitiuc is 5-1 this season at the No. 4 spot. Friday’s match will be the first of a three match away trip for the Bison.

The Hampton Pirates (0-2) have a young squad with freshman Matthew Foster-Estwick at the No. 1 singles position. Senior Joshua McQueen is one of two upper classmen on the team and has played well at the No. 2 singles spot for the Pirates.

Sunday’s match at No. 25 N.C. State (10-3) will be a big test for Old Dominion, as the Wolfpack have two singles players ranked in the top 100. Team Captains Nick Horton comes in at No. 72 after starting the season 9-2, and Simon Norenius is ranked No. 83 with a 10-1 record on the year. North Carolina State has taken down 3 ranked opponents this season. This will be the first meeting between the ODU and N.C. State tennis programs since 2009.
