PALM DESERT, Calif. -- The Old Dominion men's golf team wrapped up day two of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in a tie for eighth place with Oral Roberts after the Monarchs shot a 302 in the second round. Seniors Seth Sweet and Ashton Newsom lead the pack for ODU in a tie for 27th place.
After shooting a 76 in round one, Seth Sweet improved on day two by shooting a 73 and is tied for 27th with fellow Monarch Senior Ashton Newsom, who shot a 79 in the second round. David Langley and Calvin Greschner are tied for 38th heading into the third and final day of the event.
No. 46 Kansas is in first place with a narrow lead over No. 36 Texas Tech while Colorado is in third place.
Greschner, a freshman, is tied for third-most pars with 26, while Sweet has recorded 25. Sweet is also tied for second-best par five average (4.50).
The third and final round of the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate resumes tomorrow morning.
