Monarchs Third After Day Three of CCSA Championships

ATHENS, Ga. - After day two of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) swimming and diving championships the Old Dominion University men's squad is in third place but just 23.5 points behind the leader, Incarnate Word.

The Monarchs earned its first ponts of the day in the 200 IM as Reed Mathews and Anton Mikaelsson took third and fourth place with a dapir of NCAA B-cut qualifying times. Mathews finished in 1:47.14 while Mikaelsson recorded a 1:47.29.

Jacob Zeidler led the charge in the 50 free with a second place finish in a time of 20.26. Vitor Sa added a sixth place finish with a time of 20.51 while Graham Thatcher finished eighth in 20.61.

Cory Moreno and Danny Rabe finished second and third in the 3-meter dive as Moreno notched an NCAA Zone qualifying time of 343.95, just 3.6 points behind first place Ryan McIntire of Florida Atlantic.

ODU ended the day with a second place finish in the 200 free relay as Zeidler, Mikaelsson, Thatcher and Sa finished just .05 behind first place finisher Gardner-Webb.
