NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion wrestling team (5-12, 0-6 MAC) dropped close dual meets to Eastern Michigan, 19-12, and American, 19-18, in a double-header at the Ted Constant Center Sunday afternoon before 436 fans. Alexander Richardson, Seldon Wright and Jack Dechow went 2-0 on the day.

In the first dual of the day, ODU fell to the Eastern Michigan Eagles, 19-12. Jack Dechow got ODU off to a 3-0 lead with a 5-2 win over Derek Hillman, but EMU rebounded with an 11-3 major from No. 19 Anthony Abro at 197 over Kaleab Fetahi and a controversial 4-3 decision from Gage Hutchison over Austin Coburn at 285. 

Brandon Jeske narrowed the Eagles' lead to 7-6 with a high-scoring 10-6 win over Armando Torres at 125, but Shayne Wireman defeated Josh Markham at 133 to put Eastern Michigan out in front, 10-6. Kyle Springer followed up at 141 with an upset win over No. 13 Chris Mecate, 11-4, at 141. 

At 149, despite giving up the opening takedown, No. 8 Alexander Richardson went to work on top to grab a commanding 9-3 victory over Nick Barber to close the EMU lead to 13-9 heading into the final three bouts.

On the strength of a reversal in the final 10 seconds of the 157 bout, Michael Shaw took down Devin Geoghegan, 2-1, to extend the Eagle lead to 16-9. 

Seldon Wright forced overtime with a match-tying takedown late in the third period and went on to outlast Dakota Juarez, 6-4 in sudden victory, at 165, but Jacob Davis sealed the win for EMU with an 8-3 win over Terrell Forbes at 174. EMU defeated ODU, 19-12. 

Later in the afternoon the Monarchs battled but fell to American, 19-18. Despite winning six of the 10 contested bouts, American used two quick first period pins from No. 14 David Terao over Brandon Jeske and No. 20 Jeric Kasunic over Kaleab Fetahi and a major decision from No. 14 John Boyle over Austin Eads to clinch the victory.

Jack Dechow earned his second win of the day with a decisive 6-3 win over Jason Grimes at 184, and Austin Coburn knocked off Jake Scanlan, 4-3, at 285. Josh Markham also went on to grab his first career dual meet win for ODU with a 12-5 decision over James Giaccia at 133. 

After Tyler Scotton defeated Michael Hayes, 8-3, Alexander Richardson claimed a 7-1 win over Michael Dahlstrom at 149, and Seldon Wright won his second overtime bout of the afternoon, taking down American's nationally-ranked fifth-year senior Mitchell Wightman, 4-2 in sudden victory.

Brooks Climmons finished off a takedown in overtime to wrap up the dual meet, taking down American's Michael Eckhart, 6-4 in sudden victory.

ODU returns to the Ted Constant Center Friday, Feb. 19 to host Northern Illinois at 7:30 p.m. before clashing with Central Michigan at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21 in the Jim Jarrett Athletic Administration Gymnasium on Senior Day.
