HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Old Dominion (9-6, 2-0 C-USA) will look to win its sixth consecutive game and go 3-0 in Conference USA play when the Monarchs take on Southern Miss (3-10, 0-2 C-USA) on Saturday, Jan. 9 at 8:00 p.m. EST at the Reed Green Coliseum.

LAST TIME OUT FOR OLD DOMINION
Old Dominion snapped the country’s second longest home win-streak when the Monarchs handed LA Tech (12-3, 1-1 C-USA) a 56-53 loss at the Thomas Assembly Center. Prior to Thursday night, the Bulldogs had not lost a game on their own hardwood since Dec. 14, 2013. Thursday night also marked LA Tech’s first ever home loss in Conference USA. The victory was the Monarchs’ fifth straight win.

In what was ODU’s first time playing in Ruston and only the third ever meeting between Old Dominion and La Tech, Trey Freeman led all scorers with 21 points to compliment five rebounds, three assists and two steals. Aaron Bacote followed with 17 points on 6-10 shooting and 2-3 from three. The Monarchs led for a total 32:38 of the possible 40 minutes in a game which experienced six lead changes and five ties.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS FOR OLD DOMINION
For the season, Trey Freeman is leading the way for the Monarchs averaging 17.0 ppg and 3.7 rpg. Aaron Bacote is averaging 15.5 points a contest, while Zoran Talley is averaging 8.3 points and 4.6 rebounds. Brandan Stith is netting 7.8 ppg to compliment 8.0 boards per contest, while Nik Biberaj is chipping in 6.1 points per outing to go along with 4.2 boards. Denzell Taylor currently leads ODU with 107 rebounds (7.1 per game).

Old Dominion is averaging 66.3 points a game, while holding opponents to 58.9 points on 38.1% shooting from the floor and 31.0% from long-range. The Monarchs turn the ball over 9.6 times per game, while forcing opponents into an average of 11.5 forced turnovers per contest.

MEET SOUTHERN MISS
The Golden Eagles enter Saturday night’s contests with a 3-10 overall record and a 0-2 C-USA mark. Kourtlin Jackson is the only USM player averaging double figures, netting 11.1 points to go along with 4.2 rebounds per contest. Southern Miss has lost conference games at LA Tech (87-57) and vs. Charlotte (82-76). The Golden Eagles are currently on a two game skid.
