BOCA RATON, Fla. – Old Dominion (10-10, 3-4 C-USA) will look to add onto its 3-0 all-time record against Florida Atlantic (5-15, 3-4 C-USA), on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 7:00 p.m. EST at the FAU Arena. The Owls have claimed victory in three of the past four games.

ODU and FAU currently sit in a four-way tie for sixth place in Conference USA play with a 3-4 mark.

ODU’s Trey Freeman is nine points away from scoring 1,000 at Old Dominion and 134 points away from netting 2,000 for his career.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES
Old Dominion leads the all-time series against Florida Atlantic, 3-0. Two of the three contests were played in Norfolk. Last season, the Monarchs took down the Owls by a 68-57 count. During the 2013-14 season, Old Dominion defeated FAU 65-60 in Boca Raton. The first time these two schools met on the hardwood was on Nov. 17, 2016.

LAST TIME OUT FOR OLD DOMINION

Trey Freeman poured in a career-high 37 points in a game that experienced 17 lead changes and 17 ties, but it was Marshall’s James Kelly’s three-pointer with 3.2 seconds remaining that gave the Thundering Herd (10-10, 6-1 C-USA) a 78-75 win over ODU on Saturday afternoon at the Ted.

Freeman’s 37 points were the most for a Monarch since Kent Bazemore scored 37 versus Drexel on Feb. 25, 2012. Brandan Stith finished second on ODU in scoring with 15 points and six rebounds, while Zoran Talley added 10 points and six boards. Baker also finished with six points and a career-high seven assists.

Saturday marked ODU’s sixth loss of the season by five points or less. The Monarchs have dropped four of the last five conference games, all by three points or less.

Freeman has now scored 28 or more points in four consecutive games and leads Conference USA in scoring, netting 20 points per contest.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS FOR OLD DOMINION

Trey Freeman is leading all Conference-USA scorers with 20.0 ppg and is second in the league in assist/turnover ratio at 3.00. Aaron Bacote follows averaging in the double-figures as well, pouring in 14.4 points a contest. Brandan Stith is netting 8.5 ppg to compliment 8.4 boards per contest, while Zoran Talley is averaging 7.9 points and 4.8 rebounds. Denzell Taylor currently leads ODU with 143 total rebounds (7.2 per game) and also sits second in Conference-USA in offensive rebounds per game with 4.05.

Old Dominion is averaging 67.0 points a game, while holding opponents to a league best 61.7 points on 40% shooting from the floor and 32.5% from long-range. The Monarchs also lead all Conference-USA teams in offensive rebounds averaging 12.5 per game, while forcing opponents into an average of 11.2 forced turnovers per contest.

MEET FLORIDA ATLANTIC

FAU enter Thursday night’s contest with a 5-15 overall record and a 3-4 C-USA mark. The last time out for the Owls was filled with season highs as they recorded 13 three’s, 11 blocks, and 30 field goals in an 86-71 win at UTSA.

Adonis Filer is the only Florida Atlantic player averaging in the double figures in scoring, going for 10.0 points per game. C.J. Turman follows, netting 9.9 points per game to go along with a team-high of 7.0 boards per contest. As a team, the Owls are averaging 63.7 points per contest, while allowing 71.4.
