Lawry, Ricks Named to VaSID All-State Team

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Old Dominion running back Ray Lawry and linebacker TJ Ricks were named second-team VaSID second-team All-State, the Virginia Sports Information DIrector's Association announced on Thursday.

A sophomore from Logan Township, New Jersey, Lawry led Conference USA with 1,136 rushing yards and rushed for 11 touchdowns. He caught 21 passes for 152 yards including a 70-yard touchdown against NC State, the longest pass play of the season.  He finished second in Conference USA with six 100-yard rushing games, including a pair of 200-yard games to start off the season against Eastern Michigan and Norfolk State.  He was named second-team All-Conference USA this season after being named the Conference USA Freshman of the Year last season.

A junior from Hampton, Virginia, Ricks led Conference USA with a school record 123 tackes (10.2 per game) and earned second-team All-Conference USA accolades as well as being named a semifinalst for the Brandon Burlsworth Trophy given to the top player in the country that started his career as a walk-on.  Ricks had six games of double-digit tackles including a school record 18 in the win over Charlotte.
