KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Michael Nelson and Jesse Miralrio both earned NSCAA All-Southeast Region honors, the organization announced on Wednesday.
Nelson, a senior defender from Austin, Texas, started all 16 games for the Monarchs at center back this season and was the centerpiece of a defense that conceded just 1.19 goals per game and recorded five shutouts. Offensively, Nelson added one goal and one assist and was named STIHL Classic MVP after scoring a crucial goal in the tournament-clinching 3-2 victory over Hartford. With the first-team selection, Nelson is now eligible earn NSCAA All-American honors.
Miralrio, a junior midfielder from Arlington, Texas, earned third team accolades for the second consecutive year. Miralrio started all but one match this season, tallying four goals and adding one assist. He was also named third team All-C-USA this season.
Overall, Conference USA teams combined to earn 20 All-Southeast Region honors, including 10 of a possible 12 first-team selections.
