NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion (7-6) will look to win its 32nd consecutive game at home (the country’s fifth longest current streak) on Sat., Jan. 2 against Charlotte (3-9) for the Conference USA opener and first contest in the year 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. The game will be televised on ASN with Jeff McCarragher handling play-by-play duties and Tim Scarborough taking care of the color commentary.
THE ALL-TIME SERIES – CHARLOTTE vs. OLD DOMINION
In the 30 previous meetings between these two schools, Old Dominion leads the all-time series against Charlotte, 17-13. During the 2014-15 season, the Monarchs took down the 49ers on the road (61-54) and at the Ted (61-57).

LAST TIME OUT FOR OLD DOMINION
In front of a sold-out crowd of 8,472 and the non-conference finale, Old Dominion got the better of Norfolk State (5-9), as the Monarchs took down the Spartans by a score of 68-57 on Tuesday night. The meeting was the first between the two schools in 15 years. The win marked ODU’s 31st consecutive victory at home.
Aaron Bacote led three ODU players in double-figures with 20 points, while Trey Freeman followed with 19 and Zoran Talley chipped in 10. Brandan Stith hauled down a game-high 13 rebounds, to compliment four points, four blocks and two steals. Old Dominion led for a total of 35:03 of the possible 40 minutes. The Monarchs only turned over the rock three times throughout the game.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS FOR OLD DOMINION
For the season, Trey Freeman is leading the way for the Monarchs averaging 16.4 ppg and 3.7 rpg. Aaron Bacote is averaging 15.2 points a contest, while Zoran Talley is averaging 9.0 points and 4.6 rebounds. Brandan Stith is netting 8.1 ppg to compliment 7.9 boards per contest, while Nik Biberaj is chipping in 6.2 points per outing to go along with 4.2 boards. Denzell Taylor currently leads ODU with 89 rebounds (6.8 per game).
Old Dominion is averaging 66.5 points a game, while holding opponents to 58.9 points on 37.9% shooting from the floor and 29.7% from long-range. The Monarchs turn the ball over 9.5 times per game, while forcing opponents into an average of 11.5 forced turnovers per contest.
MEET CHARLOTTE
The 49ers enter Saturday’s contest with a 3-9 overall record and most recently coming off a 111-93 victory vs. The Citadel on Tuesday night. Braxton Ogbueze paces Charlotte with 11.6 points per contest. Also averaging double-figures, are Bernard Sullivan (10.5 ppg and 5.6 rpg) and Adrien White (10.0 ppg and 3.4 rpg).
Prior to taking down The Citadel, Charlotte lost a 62-59 heartbreaker against Georgetown. The 49ers have also beaten Appalachian State and Furman. Besides Georgetown, Charlotte has suffered setbacks to Elon, ECU, Syracuse, Michigan, Washington, Davidson, No. 21 Miami and Campbell.
MEET MARK PRICE – THE CHARLOTTE HEAD COACH
Mark Price became the tenth head coach in Charlotte 49ers history in March of 2015. Price had been an assistant coach with the Charlotte Hornets for the last two years. Price spent seven years coaching in the NBA.
As a collegiate player at Georgia Tech, he helped the Yellow Jackets move from last place to ACC champions. As a player with the Cleveland Cavaliers, he helped the team to seven playoff bids over his final eight years. As a coach in the NBA, he has helped four of his last six teams reach the NBA playoffs.
