NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men’s basketball team (4-6) will look to extend its 28-game home winning streak on Friday, Dec. 18 against UMES at 6:00 p.m. at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. ODU's 28 consecutive home wins is currently tied with Kansas for the nation's fifth longest active winning streak for NCAA Division I men's basketball.

THE SERIES VERSUS UMES
Old Dominion enters Friday’s contest with an 8-0 all-time record against UMES. The two squads last met last season, in a contest that the Monarchs claimed a 60-43 victory. These two schools first met during the 1981-82 season, when ODU handled the Hawks, 84-57.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
For the season, Trey Freeman is leading the way for the Monarchs averaging 15.1 ppg and 4.2 rpg. Aaron Bacote is averaging 12.9 points a contest, while Zoran Talley is netting 8.7 ppg. Brandan Stith follows, averaging 8.7 points and five rebounds. Nik Biberaj is chipping in 6.2 points per outing to go along with 4.6 boards. Denzell Taylor currently leads ODU with 70 rebounds (7.0 per game).

Old Dominion is averaging 64.8 points a game, while holding opponents to 59.7 points on 39.3% shooting from the floor and 28.2% from long-range. The Monarchs average 11.2 forced turnovers per contest.

LAST TIME OUT
Old Dominion is coming off a road loss at Richmond by a score of 77-61 on Wednesday night at the Robins Center. Trey Freeman paced the Monarchs with 15 points, while Denzell Taylor recorded his third double-double of the season going for 10 points and 10 rebounds. Brandan Stith (seven rebounds) and Nik Biberaj each scored eight points.

Old Dominion shot 50% from the floor and from three in the second half; however, U of R connected on 69.6% from the floor in the second half and 57.4% for the ballgame. Old Dominion’s bench outscored Richmond’s 24-10.

MEET UMES
The Hawks enter Friday’s contest with a 1-9 overall record and are 0-8 away from home. UMES has played a challenging schedule already this season with losses at Kansas State (80-53), at Missouri (73-55), at Wofford (73-63), vs. Fairfield (113-74), at Georgetown (68-49), at North Carolina Central (70-59), at North Carolina A&T (80-74), at Michigan State (78-35) and at Maryland (77-56). UMES’ one win was against Saint Francis (PA) by a score of 70-57.

UMES is led by Devin Martin, who is averaging 14.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Also averaging double-figured for the Hawks is Dominique Elliott, who averages 11.7 points to go along with 6.2 boards per contest.

Head coach Bobby Collins is now in his second season at the helm. In his first season, the Hawks concluded their year with an 18-15 overall record, the most wins by a UMES men's basketball team in 41 years. Though a first round exit in the College Insider Tournament (CIT), the Hawks still  earned a postseason berth for the first time since 1981.
